Cormorant

When I spotted this cormorant in the Anne Morrison Park in Boise, it was swimming through the water. I followed it hoping for a nice photo opportunity. It was about 10:00 am in the morning and the position of the sun seemed wrong when the bird climbed out of the water and onto the embankment. I had no time to change my position before the bird lifted its wings. I had to take the shot and hope for the best. Personally, I love the way it turned out. My advice is always take the shot, you never know what you might get!
They say the way to a woman's heart is diamonds. Not this woman. The way to my heart is a bigger lens! My camera of choice is a Nikon D80 with a Nikor 300 VR lens. I need the VR because my hands shake in the presence of grizzly bear, bald eagles and moose and it's hard to chase animals around with a tri pod.
